Getting Started with DataOdds

A quick tour of the DataOdds terminal: comparing odds, saving views, setting alerts, tracking your bets and adding friends.

In short: DataOdds is one terminal for comparing live odds, getting alerted when a price is worth acting on, and tracking how your bets perform. Start on the Comparison screen, save the sports and books you care about as a view, set up alerts for your strategy, and log your bets in the Bet Tracker.

The DataOdds terminal brings live odds from hundreds of sportsbooks, alerts and your bet history into one place. This guide walks through each part at a high level so you know where everything lives.

Find your way around

The terminal has three sections, each one key away:

KeySectionWhat it's for
1ScreensCompare odds across sportsbooks
2AlertsSee the opportunities your alerts have found
3TrackerLog your bets and measure your performance

Two more shortcuts are worth learning on day one: ⌘K searches for any team, league or event, and ? lists every keyboard shortcut.

Compare odds

The Screens section has two screens:

  • Comparison (C) puts every sportsbook's price side by side, so the best price for each outcome stands out.
  • Detail (D) gives a detailed view of odds data from each sportsbook.

Click any price to open the Sidekick, a side panel with that market's detailed odds and price history. The chart marks when the game went in-play, so the closing line, the last price before kickoff, is easy to spot.

Save your setup as a view

A view is a saved set of sports, competitions and sportsbooks, so the screen shows only the markets you care about. Open Configure views to create, rename or edit them, and press V to switch between views quickly.

Each view also has a no-vig price (NVP) method, which is how the bookmaker's margin is removed to estimate the fair price. You can change it from the view's menu.

Set up alerts

Alerts watch the market for you and surface opportunities as they appear. There are four types:

  • Odds change: a price shortens or lengthens by at least the percentage you set within a time window.
  • Positive EV: a price is better than the fair price from your Sharp Line.
  • Arbitrage: prices across books let you back every outcome and lock in a profit.
  • Opening line: a sportsbook posts a new opening line.

Create and edit them in Configure alerts. In the Alerts section, press N to jump to new alerts and P to pause them. The volume slider in the footer controls alert sounds.

Your Sharp Line

Positive EV alerts compare prices to your Sharp Line: a weighted blend of the sharpest sportsbooks that stands in for the true price. You choose which books it uses and how much each one counts. DataOdds also uses it to show the current EV of your pending bets.

Track your bets

The Bet Tracker keeps a record of every bet and shows how you're doing: profit, number of bets, turnover, ROI, yield and your win-loss record, plus a profit chart and a calendar.

Log a bet from the Tracker, or use Track bet (⇧1) in the action bar when you're looking at an opportunity. The Tracker also records closing line value (CLV), which compares the price you got with the closing line. Consistently beating the close is one of the best early signs that your bets have an edge.

Set your starting bankroll in Bet Tracker Settings, and use tags to group bets by strategy.

Bet with friends

Add friends by their username, or share your invite link. You'll need to choose a username first, because your link carries it.

Once you're connected:

  • The Friends panel shows a feed of the bets your friends place, with the EV they logged at.
  • Tail opens Log Bet with a friend's bet already filled in.
  • Click a friend to see their bets, stats and profit chart in the Bet Tracker, or tick several friends to see their bets next to yours.

Get help

Use the chat button in the terminal to talk to the team. Members can also send feedback from the footer by capturing part of the screen or writing a note. You can also email support@dataodds.com.
